We Went to Palau!

Ever Heard of Jellyfish Lake?

From the surface, this looks like any old dirty lake in the states. When you get in, you realize you are in a world all its own. The visibility is about 25 feet and you can not move without touching stingless jellyfish. They are all around you and packed below you. The tiniest one we found was like a fourth of your pinky nail and the biggest was about the size of a honey dew melon. You can hold them and play with them. They feel like a big ball of jello. Amazing.

They claim that this stuff is like a facial treatment. But let me tell you, it smelled like dookie.

Sharks!

You would never know it but just beyond those boats is a huge drop off filled with reef sharks. We swam with 20 to 30 of them anywhere from 4 to 7 feet long. All of the rock islands that you see in the backround have specific specialties all their own. This particular rock island has sharks. Wish we had an underwater camera.

Here is Mik on a call. This turned out to be an amazing experience. Arrangements were made to come back the following weekend but the householder asked if they could come back within 2 days. Hopefully Mik can post more info about this call later.

Our life here in Guam would not be the same without these guys. They are always looking for some place for us to hike. This one led us down a very steep mountain side, through the jungle and a river and we ended up at this waterfall and swimming hole.

What snakes?

This is the only "brown tree snake" that we have seen here in Guam. So to all you people so worried for us, you now can rest knowing that we are safe.

The guy on the far left is one of our new brothers. He was the only one baptized Saturday so the talk and prayer were all for him...they even used his name. It was cool.

We actually are working...

We thought we should post some pics of us actually getting dirty
...because, believe it or not, we don't go to the beach every day. This is the first room we renovated. Jay and another brother were skimcoating the ceilings and had already put thirty bags of mud up. The next morning, hollow spots were found from the previous add on. So down came the thirty bags. Lots of work.

Here is the missionary home we are staying in with a missionary couple that has been in missionary work for twenty seven years. We are there with another international volunteer couple. This is the view from the front and our living room. We walk to morning worship every morning. It is about a seven minute walk.

Guam Is Awesome!

We are so sorry it took so long for us to get our blog going. We do not have internet at the missionary home we are staying in so we have to go to the branch for internet. This place is incredible. The people here are wonderful. Service is so amazing. People love the Bible here and are really interested in what you have to say. Everyone is friendly. We have been out three times now. We get to work with the missionaries often. The snorkeling is like nothing we have ever seen. It is like stepping into an aquarium. Hundreds of colorful fish everywhere. Our job at the branch is renovating four rooms. We demo, and then start from scratch. We are working with four other international volunteers. Two from Florida and two from Kentucky. We are really having a blast but wish all of you could be here with us. Hope you enjoy our pictures.

We leave in two days!

Well, it is almost here. We want to thank everyone who has encouraged us along the way. It is because of all of your help that we are getting to experience this priveledge. Thank you!

We just got the call.

On Friday, December 12th, we got the call from Brad Housner. We are going to Guam! We can not wait. Our assignment starts March 1st. We have created this blog so everyone can come to Guam with us. We hope you enjoy it.
